YAA ANIMAH FOUNDATION HOSTS MENSTRUAL HYGIENE AND MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS OUTREACH

In a bid to promote menstrual hygiene and mental health awareness among young people, the Yaa Animah Foundation on the 29th May 2025, at exactly 10am, organized a successful school outreach program at the Abeka Cluster of Schools. The event, was themed “Strong Bodies, Strong Minds”, and brought together students and experts to discuss crucial topics surrounding menstrual health and mental well-being.

According to the education given and the activities that was performed, the program was a resounding success, with students actively participating in interactive sessions and asking pertinent questions to clarify their doubts and fears. The facilitators, comprising experienced professionals, provided guidance and support, empowering the students to take control of their mental health and menstrual well-being.

Expert Insights

The event featured three expert speakers, including Miss Emmanuella Esi Arhin, who doubles as the Research and Monitoring, and Evaluation Officer for Yaa Animah Foundation and also an Eminent Health Information Officer, who took the students through knowing one’s menstrual cycle and further explained the basics of menstruation and menstrual health.

Whereas, Lady Emerald Lotus, the PRO for Yaa Animah Foundation and a renowned Women Empowerment and Gender advocate, tackled the crucial topic of breaking the silence and stigmas surrounding menstruation and mental health.

And Miss Portia Oduro Frimpong, Team Manager for Yaa Animah Foundation and an Illustrious Women Empowerment and Children Advocate, shared valuable expert insights on the need to prioritize mental well-being and break free from societal stigmas.

A Step Towards a Positive Impact

At Yaa Animah Foundation, empowering women and children, through education, catering for their health and total wellbeing, is our topmost priority and in that regard, the foundation took the opportunity in the month of menstrual hygiene and mental health awareness to promote menstrual hygiene and mental health awareness, particularly among young people.

By providing education and resources, such as donating sanitary pads to students and other incentives etc, and the foundation aimed to break down stigmas and promote a culture of openness and support. The outreach program was a significant step towards achieving this goal, and the foundation is grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of the students.

Foundation’s Commitment Through An Interview

In an interview, a representative from the Yaa Animah Foundation said, “We believe that education is key to promoting menstrual hygiene and mental health awareness”.

“We are committed to empowering young people with the knowledge and resources they need to take control of their health and well-being, said another representative.

The Event was graced by several dignitaries aside the students who attended the event in their numbers and the dignitaries were,  the Yaa Animah Foundation executives, including James Atiakoh, Special Aid to the CEO and Founder of Yaa Animah Foundation, and Mrs. Rosetta Ben Sam, the Administrative Manager for Yaa Animah Foundation and various Head teachers, Head Masters and Mistresses of the various cluster of schools.
